Men and women who have celebrated Confirmation, actively practice their faith, and are at least 16 years old are eligible for this ministry. They commit to training in the theology of the Eucharist and the practical aspects of assisting the priests and deacons in preparing the sacred vessels, distributing Holy Communion, and the cleansing of vessels after Mass. There is also training in bringing Communion to the sick and homebound.

Overview: In every celebration of the Eucharist, there should be a sufficient number of ministers of Holy Communion so that it may be distributed in a reverent and orderly manner. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) may be men or women who are living in harmony with the teachings of the Church. They should be Confirmed, at least sixteen years of age, and Safe Environment cleared. Please prayerfully consider this important ministry!

Qualifications:

  • A baptized and confirmed Roman Catholic
  • A registered and active participant in the parish, as well as Safe Environment cleared
  • Committed to being prepared and serving for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Ability to walk and stand as needed during the Mass
