“I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.” Psalm 84:10
The Role and Importance of the Ushers Ministry
Overview: The ministry of ushering serves the people and creates an atmosphere of hospitality. The heart of an usher is the heart of a servant. Ushers serve with a special extraordinary welcome by providing a warm and safe atmosphere of reverence and order before, during and after the Mass. Ushers are in simple terms, “doorkeepers for the house of the Lord.”
Men and women are trained to welcome and guide the movement of people before, during and after Mass. They greet and seat people, distribute worship aids and bulletins, take up collections, form and facilitate processions, and provide crisis assistance when needed.
