“The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother.” - St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Of all the ministries, groups, and organizations here at All Saints, none is quite so special or lively as the All Saints Mom’s Group. For almost a decade, this ministry has provided support, community, and fellowship to mothers of all kinds and has contributed incalculably to the well-being and growth of our Parish.

The All Saints Moms’ Group (or ASMG), is a thriving ministry within our Parish, by and for moms. To learn more about this group and the exciting things they do, we posed a few questions to Laura Concienne. She and her fellow Co-Chair, Natalie Bedford, currently lead the ASMG with help from a whole host of other moms. Laura shared some interesting and insightful things:

What is the Mom’s Group about, and who is it for?

Laura Concienne: The All Saints Moms Group is a fellowship of moms in all stages who help each other on the mission to raise the next generation of passionate Christ followers. Bonded by our vocations as mothers and our Catholic faith, we join together to build friendships, grow in faith, support our community, and encourage each other through the joys and challenges of motherhood. All mothers are welcome! If you are a mother, are expecting, or need support on the journey to motherhood, we are here for you!

How long has this Mom’s Group been around?

LC: A group of All Saints friends started Moms Group (aka ASMG) in 2014. After looking for a niche within other ministries, they decided to create a ministry of their own, to care for and unite the mothers of our Parish. Pre-Covid we had approx. 80 members and we are hoping to grow our membership and reach more mothers.

What are some things that ASMG does, or events that you have?

LC: We have monthly meetings on the first Friday of the Month, with guest speakers, activities, and free childcare.

We also have several small groups: Working Moms, Moms of Littles, Moms in the Midst (moms of elementary and beyond children). We are hoping to start a new small group this year called Moms with Kids with Special Needs.

We have Bible studies, book studies, and special committees.

We organize playdates multiple times a month, Spring and Fall family picnics, and mom's night out social events at least once per month

We also have a yearly Advent retreat, as well as community and Parish outreach projects, and arranging meal calendars for new moms.

What is your favorite thing about being part of this group?

LC: If you ask any ASMG member her favorite part of our group, she will say the relationships she develops with other women in her same stage of life. These relationships start over coffee and commiserating about sleep deprivation or picky teenagers but grow through sharing our Catholic faith and encouraging each other as we encounter new challenges. This group of women, strong in their Catholic faith, encourages us to grow our own faith and teach our children to do the same. We cannot imagine doing this without them!

How can parishioners who aren’t moms support this ministry?

LC: Say hello at Mass! We would love to meet you! We may occasionally show up a little late or seem distracted with little ones, but a friendly welcome to families when you see them at Mass makes our day. We also have a few fundraisers throughout the year: Advent wreath sales and family pictures in the fall, through which you can support the things we do.

Is there anything else you’d like the whole parish to know about Mom’s group?

LC: We love All Saints and are deeply invested in the future of our Parish. We would LOVE to welcome ALL mothers in our Parish. We hope that ASMG can continue to grow into a true reflection of our Parish family. Moms group changes to meet the needs of our members, so, if you are a mom who has an idea for a small group or event, come join us and we can make it happen together!

The ASMG continues to be a pillar of our community, and they are always welcome to new members!
